Root Canal Treatment

Root Canal (Endodontic) Treatment is an advanced dental treatment that can be used to help save a tooth that has become severely damaged

In cases where the damage is very severe, the nerve at the centre of the tooth can become inflamed or infected or in severe cases, the nerve may die. This can be due to a number of factors including trauma, tooth decay and gum disease.

The goal of root canal therapy is to eliminate bacteria from the infected root canal, prevent reinfection of the tooth and ultimately, save the natural tooth.

What to expect during a root canal treatment

The root canal process involves 3 steps

  1. Your dentist will carefully and thoroughly clean out the canal where the nerve is usually found within the tooth.

  2. Once the canals are cleaned and disinfected, your dentist will then check to ensure that the canals are ready to be filled and sealed, and will then seal the clean canal so as to prevent further infection or inflammation in the area.

  3. The final stage in root canal therapy is to restore and strengthen the tooth with a long-term solution such as a crown to protect the tooth in an aesthetically beautiful way.

Crowns

A dental crown is like a protective jacket for the tooth

Crowns can be used to protect, cover and restore the appearance of a tooth that has been weakened, damaged or become misshapen.

Crowns are used in a variety of situations including:

  • After a Root Canal Treatment (to help cover, strengthen and protect the root canal treated tooth)
  • In certain cases to help restore teeth that have been very heavily worn down through grinding.
  • In cases where a tooth has required very large dental fillings due to decay or trauma (in these cases a crown works like a protective helmet to help safeguard the tooth and your smile).
  • In cases where a patient needs a dental bridge, crowns are used to support and hold the bridge in place.
  • Crowns can be made from a number of different dental materials and are carefully made to fit your tooth and complement your smile.
A dental crown procedure is an investment in your smile and deserves expert care.

The price will vary depending on the material used, and number of teeth treated.Your dentist can outline the best options for you as well as what is involved and most importantly, the benefits for your smile.

    Dentures

If you have a number of missing teeth, it’s not just your smile that suffers

Chewing, speaking, and the position of your bite can all be affected if you suffer from missing teeth.

This is where dentures come in. Dentures provide a removable solution to help you smile more and get back to doing the things you love without missing teeth getting in the way.

While most of us will think of a denture as a solution only for those who have no teeth at all, this couldn’t be further from the truth!
A denture can be made to replace a single tooth or a group of missing teeth depending on what your smile needs. A denture is an investment in your smile, confidence and overall well being and deserves expert care.

The price will vary depending on the material used, and number of teeth that need replacing.
